The makeup of North Charleston’s Park Circle neighborhood includes a mix of longtime retiree residents, artsy entrepreneurs and young professionals and their families. With roots that date back to 1912, the area was developed as one of the East Coast’s only garden cities — walkable communities intended to seamlessly combine work, domestic life and leisure time. Most of the homes in the area were built between 1940 and the 1970s with several newer (c. mid-2000s-present) green subsections under development. The area is home to a small but thriving downtown district with a traditional Main Street. Top-notch dining and excellent parks are within walking distance of residences, and the neighborhood is just 15 minutes from downtown Charleston, West Ashley and Mount Pleasant and even closer to Daniel Island. Park Circle frequently garners national attention for its successful revitalization effort and is one of the most affordable neighborhoods in the Charleston area.
