Part of Charleston proper since the 18th century, the Harleston Green neighborhood is situated between Calhoun and Broad Streets and King Street and Lockwood Drive/Halsey Boulevard. The historic downtown neighborhood comprises most of the College of Charleston campus and is adjacent to the Medical University of South Carolina. You’ll find a mix of stately residences occupied by families and professionals working in the area as well as a high concentration of college students renting shared single-family homes or homes that have been converted to multifamily units. The area also offers apartment and condominium options. Most of the structures in the Harleston Green community were built between 1800 and 1900. Within walking distance of parks, nightlife, shopping and most anything else downtown Charleston has to offer, the neighborhood is also convenient to Folly Beach, James Island and beyond.
