James Island has two golf course communities: Country Club I and II. The first phase of the neighborhood was built between 1940 and 1960, and many of the luxury homes overlook Wappoo Creek and Porter-Gaud, a prestigious Charleston-area private school that’s located just across the creek. Country Club II is the second phase of the development with most of the homes built in the 1960s and no properties located directly on the waterfront. The homes in both phases feature wooded, private yards, and many come with excellent golf course views. The neighborhood is convenient to Folly Road (for quick access to West Ashley) and to the James Island Connector (for travel to downtown Charleston and Interstate 26).
