Charleston’s West Ashley neighborhood of Ashland Plantation is an established subdivision situated just moments away from I-526, which leads to the airport and Mount Pleasant. Homes in this area were built in the 1980s and 1990s, and many are located either on the marsh with tidal creek access or right on the Ashley River. The average home size in Ashland Plantation is between 2,000 and 3,500 square feet. The neighborhood has an active property owners’ association that maintains the community dock and basketball and tennis courts. The POA also sponsors events, such as oyster roasts and neighborhood rummage sales. Saint Francis Hospital, the Citadel Mall, numerous eateries and many other shopping opportunities are just a short drive from the neighborhood.
