The small West Ashley neighborhood of Albemarle Point is located across from the Charleston downtown peninsula at the convergence of Ashley River and Wappoo Creek. The subdivision is situated just off Highway 61 and Folly Road Boulevard about two miles north of downtown Charleston. Approximately 10 single-family luxury homes built around the 1950s are situated on a tiny marsh-surrounded islet behind the prestigious Porter-Gaud Academy private school. Also considered part of Albemarle Point, though not situated directly on the water, is the Albemarle Condominiums, a five-story, luxury gated condo community built in the early 2000s. Centrally located to much of Charleston, both the condos and the older homes capture gorgeous Lowcountry waterway views.
